Stoneware Pitcher

A believer in the principle “form follows function” and a lover of beautiful aesthetics in functional work, I am drawn to creating functional pieces that reveal a sculptural form.

Work that is beautiful to look at and useful in a practical sense.

I create art that serves a purpose.

A pitcher to pour from. A cup to drink from. A bowl to serve from. An image of a snowy plover resting on the sand

I attempt to apply this philosophy to all of my creative work. Making art that serves, that contributes to the intrinsic value of the viewers space, experience and environment.

A sculpture may bring beauty through color, harmony and proportion, or those same features may generate humor, thoughts, and emotions.

A purposeful object that works well is a pleasure to use. An object that brings pleasure has a wonderful purpose in life.
